Globalstar USA/Caribbean Service in Alaska

Now your customers will be able to use their Globalstar phones farther in to Alaska. Globalstar USA service will be available all the way out to 169W longitude.

There has been a high demand for additional coverage in Alaska since Globalstar launched service. Because of the large expanses of land not covered by any telecommunications system, and the sizable group of people who live, work and play here, expanding coverage into the region has been a top priority for Globalstar. To respond to the demand, Globalstar has used a technique called "Beam Overreach". This technique allows Globalstar USA to serve areas of Alaska well beyond the core coverage zone expected of our technology. Because of the extreme latitude and challenging topographical conditions that exist here, Globalstar call completion rates will slowly be reduced as the caller moves north and west from the Alaskan/Canadian border. But in a land where only Globalstar's simple, affordable, and dependable satellite communications are there to save your life or business, this important coverage enhancement will be a welcome addition to what is already the world's greatest handheld phone coverage.

Because the area is shaded does not necessarily mean that there is complete satellite coverage. Maps illustrate expected Globalstar coverage. Globalstar is a satellite radio technology subject to transmission limitations caused by service area limits, customer equipment use, topographic and other variable conditions. These maps are not drawn to scale. This map is subject to frequent update.
